The Castro Theatre is a popular San Francisco single-screen movie palace and one of the city's historic landmarks. It opened its doors at the current location at 429 Castro Street in 1922. The original Castro Theatre had been opened in 1910 only a few doors down the road, at 479 Castro Street, and was subsequently remodeled into a retail store.
